Ian tells us a little bit about himself and his role in the business.
Name: Ian Aitchison
Role: Managing Director, Close Brothers Business Finance
Length of time with business: Nearly five years
1. Briefly explain your role
As Managing Director of Close Brothers Business Finance, I’ve worked closely with the leadership team to set the strategy for the various areas of sales, credit, operations and collections. With a team of 57 people across these areas, the aim is to offer outstanding service to our Broker partners.
2. What do you enjoy most about your role?
Seeing the team develop both as a group and as individuals and supporting Brokers and their customers in developing bespoke funding packages that work.
3. How would you describe your work ethic?
It’s always been the same - Work Hard and Play Hard whilst being professional at all times.
4. If you could be an animal what would you be and why?
I’d be one of my dogs as they are looked after better than I look after myself! Lots of exercise, fresh air and fed at regular intervals!
5. If you weren’t in work now, what would you be doing?
I’d be playing some sport - probably golf, or watching and supporting my kids play sport. I’m really lucky that both my children love their sport. My daughter is part of the England Women’s Elite Player squad (Rugby Football Union) and has been capped at the u20 level. She is also part of the World Rugby Women’s Sevens series. My son is a county u18 rugby player and a skilled cricketer playing in the Premier Cricket League since the age of 16. He also loves his football and golf.
6. Which of your colleagues would you like to nominate to feature next in meet the team and why?
I would like to nominate my colleague Gil Cubells as he took over my previous role and I’d like to know what he’s doing!!!
