We like to think Close Brothers Asset Finance is somewhere people like to work, and judging by how many long-serving colleagues we have, we might just be right!

In our latest Q&A we speak with Samantha Sheppard, Collections Manager, who has been with us for nearly 20 years about her experiences and what she’s currently working on…

What do you like most about working for Close Brothers Asset Finance?

I started with Close Brothers Asset Finance nearly 18 years ago and I have welcomed the opportunities it has given me to progress my career through continued support and new challenges.

How would you describe the culture at Close Brothers Asset Finance?

The culture is like no other business - we’re a business that cares. Our decisions are made with the very best interests of the business and the customer at heart.

A lot of my colleagues have worked with the business for over 10 years and some even 20! We’re like a family who all support each other through the good times and the tough times.

What would you say to someone who is thinking of applying for a role with Close Brothers Asset Finance?

I would highly recommend Close Brothers Asset Finance as a business to work for because I have enjoyed a fantastic career here.

Is being part of a diverse and inclusive business important to you? If yes, why?

We welcome everyone and have worked to support the 10,000 Black Interns programme, which was very successful. We also take on Aspire graduates within the business and support them to gain as much experience within the business as possible.

What has been the biggest change in the business you have witnessed since joining?

I think the biggest changes for me have been relocating from Tolworth to Wimbledon and changes in systems and procedures.

What initiatives is the business currently working on that are important to you?

I’m currently involved with testing the new ALFA V5 system, which is due to be rolled out in September. I’m excited about this change and look forward to continuing to support the project team.

What opportunities for progression and development have you had?

Having recently been promoted to manager, I have a new team of collectors and a new supervisor, so I’m keeping busy training and progressing my team.

And finally, what do you do to unwind from the rigours of your role? At home, I have two small children who keep me very busy, especially my 9-year-old daughter who has a busier social life than I do now!

I also enjoy exercising, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
