Close Brothers’ Energy team funds construction of 43.6MW Priestgill Wind Farm
Close Brothers’ Energy team has provided funding for the construction of Muirhall Energy’s 43.6MW Priestgill Wind Farm.
This latest project marks the sixth Close Brothers has funded for the energy developer as it continues to expand its clean energy portfolio.
Located near Abington in South Lanarkshire, Priestgill Wind Farm will comprise seven turbines – each between 180m and 200m in height - and generate enough renewable electricity to power more than 44,000 homes each year. Construction started in September 2025, and it’s expected to be fully energised by November 2026.
Over its lifetime of 40 years, the site will provide approximately £218,000 annually in community benefit to the families living in the surrounding area and save 30,000 tonnes of CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere.
Richie Kidd, Head of Deal Execution at Close Brothers, said: “We are delighted to have supported Muirhall Energy in providing project finance for Priestgill Wind Farm. Having funded several of their previous wind farms, it was great to work with the team again and play our part in delivering this for a client that is focused on the transition to a more sustainable future.
“This is a great example of our willingness and ability to support renewable schemes of all sizes as the UK works toward meeting its net zero ambitions.”
Sarah McIntosh, Managing Director of Muirhall Energy Ltd, said: “This is a significant milestone and reflects the dedication of our team over more than ten years of development.
“Priestgill Wind Farm is testament of our continued ability to deliver high-quality renewable projects in partnership with key stakeholders – including Close Brothers - that contribute to the UK’s long-term energy security, while providing real and tangible benefits for local communities.
“Having experienced first-hand the professionalism of the Close Brothers Energy team over many years, we have forged a strong partnership and expect to work on more projects in the future.”
