We offer finance, including loans and marine mortgages, for a wide variety of sailing yachts and motorboats, including those that are used for charter
We have been in existence for over four decades after first opening our doors in 1976. The business initially focused on aviation finance, expanding into marine finance over 20 years ago. Since entering the marine market, our team has helped customers purchase hundreds of vessels for use in the UK and Europe.
Just as no two businesses are the same, neither are asset finance providers. With us, it’s the combination of our people, products, and principles that make the difference. Close Brothers Aviation and Marine are part of Close Brothers, a leading UK merchant banking group providing lending, deposit taking, wealth management services and securities trading. Close Brothers Group employ over 3000 people, principally in the UK and are listed on the London stock exchange.
9:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday (excluding UK bank holidays)
Finance facilities are structured by way of a marine mortgage over the vessel and we register the mortgage with the relevant marine authority.
We require UK vessels to be registered on Part 1 of the UK Ship Register and work closely with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) to assist boat and yacht owners with the registration process. This process helps protect your ownership interest and can also provide valuable protection against fraud. In addition to assisting with the Part 1 registration process, we check that the vessel title paperwork meets MCA registration requirements. If a vessel is already Part 1 registered, we request a Transcript of Registry from the MCA to confirm if there are any existing mortgages registered over the vessel.
When lending to companies and limited liability partnerships (LLPs) we register a mortgage with Companies House. Appropriate guarantees and facility fees normally apply with this financing.
